A big upgrade to the Severe Weather Outlook for tomorrow (Tuesday). This is a level 4/5 (Moderate) risk for much of Ohio, and a 3/5 (Enhanced) risk into West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania. All modes of severe weather (tornadoes, large hail, damaging wind) will be possible tomorrow late afternoon and evening, with higher probabilities the farther west you're located. Stay tuned for further updates! Now is the time to make sure you have a way (ideally multiple ways) to receive watches and warnings for your area so you can stay weather aware. NOAA Weather Radios and trusted phone apps are two great methods. No, this is not an April Fool's Day joke. ... See MoreSee Less

Please pardon the dust while our site is under construction

We are working on getting our website fully back up and running, but for now please visit our Facebook page. You can view our posts without having to create an account, or can follow our page to get more timely updates! Please find us on Facebook at Highland VFD

Highland’s mission is to protect the lives and property of the 28,000+ residents of the Town of McCandless, and any person within its boundaries from fire or other hazards, and to assist any emergency services calling upon our service for mutual aid.

The execution of this mission is made possible by your generous donations. The funds go directly back into the community through grant matching, training, fire prevention, and other services.

The volunteers at Highland are your friends and neighbors. You work with them. Their kids go to school with your kids. You see them at Giant Eagle, Steelers games, fishing in North Park and shopping at Ross Park Mall. And if you need them, you’ll see them if your house is on fire, there’s a tree down across the road, you smell natural gas, or there’s a cat stuck in a tree.

Please donate to make difference in your life and the lives of those around you. Please donate to help support the most vulnerable members of our community – our children, special needs, and elderly residents.

No donation is too small. All donations are tax deductible.

Thank you from Highland. And thank you from the friends, family, neighbors, visitors and guests you have helped to protect and serve.
